Nothing at the moment, but I was digging through my photo archives looking for cool pictures and I found an interesting video.
Ask a local about biking up on the Continental Divide and the first thing they will tell you is that the trails are snowed in for half the summer. Then they will start complaining about the mosquitoes.
I was on my tour of duty for the week doing trail work up on 1101 and Mountain View trails. It was late July, and the mosquitoes were as thick as I had ever seen them.
On our last night out we set up camp on the edge of Long park, just off of Mountain View trail. We wanted to camp near a water source even though it meant that there would be lots of mosquitoes.
The other guys were able to spend the evening hiding from the bugs in their tents. Hiding in my bivy didn't sound like a lot of fun so I just covered up as much exposed skin as possible and waited for the sun to set so the bugs would go away.
Just imagine trying to fix a flat tire on Mountain View trail with all these guys helping out.
